The national APS stampshow is only a few weeks away and close to the Bay Area this year — are you planning to go? http://stamps.org/STAMPSHOW-SS
What is the StampShow?
“The APS StampShow is the largest annual event held every August in differnt states. Hosting 150+ dealers, nearly 15,000 pages of exhibits, public auction, first day ceremonies, 50 societies and more!
This four-day extravaganza of stamp collecting is the largest annual stamp show in our nation and offers collecting fun for hobbyists at every level of experience. Some of the nation’s finest and most famous collections will be on display within the aisles of frames. There are more than 120 seminars or meetings taking place over the course of the show. Attend one or a dozen — it is
a great way to learn and socialize with other collectors.
APS will hold a General Membership Meeting and Open Town Meeting Saturday morning, August 18. Board members will present reports on the current state of the Society and offer attendees the chance to ask questions. We also will be presenting certificates and pins to our 25- and 50-year members, as well as presenting a number of other awards, and introducing our new class of youth fellows.
For new adult collectors and those returning to the hobby, our Society’s Education Department offers a basic stamp collecting course called Stamp Collecting 101. Experts will walk you through how to use the basic tools and stamp handling techniques, how to get the most from catalogues, how to care for your stamps and covers, and much more. Young collectors can “get into it” in the Stamp Zone.
Be sure to stop by the American Philatelic Society’s booth near the show’s entrance to meet our friendly, knowledgeable staff and to discover the benefits and services offered by the world’s largest nonprofit organization, which has served stamp collectors for 125 years. Don’t forget stop by booth 245 to learn about the Mighty Buck Campaign and meet Mighty Bill. See what $12 a year can do!” Stampshow Program,
